JumpStartMove
WelcomeJumpStartMove projects use the power of dance theatre as a creative intervention. Founders Amy McGann and Philip Hill have taught and performed with a range of well-known arts organisations - Adventures in Motion Pictures, Dance United, Laban, Random Dance, Protein and East London Dance. As JumpStartMove, they develop projects with children, young people, adults and intergenerational groups in a range of diverse settings - in fact, in any setting you like to suggest!
JumpStartMove's intensive and radical approach ensures high levels of engagement. Projects are rigorous and demanding - improving participants' physical fitness and powers of concentration. Projects are fun - expanding creative expression, raising life and social skills and promoting effective team work. Projects are inspirational - encouraging personal ambition, creative vision and a sense of individual and collective responsibility.
JumpStartMove has had notable success in reaching marginalised and vulnerable young adults whose complex needs require respectful and dynamic leadership. Young people in care, young parents and young drug users have been amongst the many to benefit. A special focus has been on young offenders in custody or on community sentences and those at risk of offending. For them, JumpStartMove projects present a profound challenge to patterns of offending behaviour, raise offenders' self-esteem and are catalysts for reform.
JumpStartMove makes strong partnerships to deliver its projects - for example, with schools, community groups, Pupil Referral Units, Youth Offending Teams and prisons. Drawing on its performing roots, JumpStartMove is also able to develop unique partnerships with high-profile arts venues which provide a wonderful platform for participants' work - for example, The Place, Greenwich Dance Agency, Sadler's Wells Theatre and the Southbank Centre.
JumpStartMove works closely with all partners to ensure that projects are carefully tailored to achieve the desired outcomes and meet the needs of participants. Strategies are agreed to ensure that positive impacts can be sustained. There is always scope for individuals in the teaching and caring professions involved, to tap into JumpStartMove's exciting new way of working, for personal professional development.
Facilitators are CRB checked and are fully trained in Child Protection Practice.
